Starting fundraising isn’t easy
There’s a lot that goes into fundraising. The most important thing to remember is that you should have a clear purpose when collecting donations and make sure that donors can easily understand your mission. The method in which STEAM Forward begins fundraising is first identifying the location. It may be a storefront of a local business, or the finish line of a local sporting event. If so, call the organization ahead of time and ask them if you can set up a table at the location. Next, make sure all of your informational materials are ready. You need a table, a large poster for the table to attract attention and to display your logo, and informational flyers/brochures that clearly and simply state why you are fundraising.
After these beginning steps are completed, make sure you have a group of friends/employees/family willing to chip in and not only participate at the fundraiser, but also to spread the word by word-of-mouth and on social media.
These are the basics to fundraising for a charitable organization and are not all of the steps you should take to start a fundraiser, but are definitely a good baseline to follow.
